This annual Juneteenth festival in Potomac is being greatly expanded this year to raise funds to rebuild the Scotland AME Zion Church in Potomac which was rendered unusable by a flood in 2019. Learn more.
As we celebrate the past, present, and future of one of the first places in our county where African Americans owned land, the Scotland community, we will be hosting Get to Know Your Neighbors Bingo – an activity that will meaningfully connect hundreds of our residents to one another. There will be a carnival for children, music for all of us and lots of fun. Check out these websites for more information. Carnival. The opening music event at the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Club.
We are working to fulfill the vision of Festival Chairperson, and fifth-generation resident of Scotland, Latisha Gasaway-Paul, that the community connections we build from this Festival will help to improve lives and foster greater understanding for many generations to come.
