Let’s reflect on both the victims and victories of Jewish Life in Europe. We gather at the Bender JCC for a morning exploring topics of Jewish life in Europe. Rabbi Michael Berenbaum will speak on a topic inspired by Gerda Weissmann Klein z’l. Nazi collaborators were both victims and perpetrators. Gerda’s life was saved by Moshe Merin, a collaborator, even as he aided the Nazis. How can we understand the ethical challenges for both villains and victims?
Then Rabbi Michael Paley will reflect on the revival and renewal of Jewish life in Europe. Rabbi Paley has spent the last five years based in Budapest, Hungary nurturing Jewish communities.
