For a special Friday night with Friends, we invited a local hero, Joyce Siegel. She played a critical role in saving Maryland‘s historic African-American Scotland community in the mid-1960s. As a young mother, she heard about the deplorable conditions in Scotland. By her courage and determination, Siegel helped to secure the first-ever HUD housing grant that allowed the community’s dilapidated homes to be built into a townhouse community with running water, electricity, and sewerage. Her story is an inspiration for us all.
BE A PART OF OUR WARM COMMUNITY, SO THAT WE CAN INNOVATE AND CELEBRATE TOGETHER.
